Friendly Peersuasion

Friendly Peersuasion is a substance abuse prevention program designed to help girls, ages 11-14 with the following goals: 1)understand reasons people engage in unhealthy behaviors, 2)the effects of substance abuse, 3)how to handle peer pressure situations – targeting those situations dealing with substances, 4)how to communicate effectively, 5)stress management, 6)media messages and marketing techniques used around alcohol and tobacco, and 7)how to assist younger girls with issues surrounding substances and peer influence.

The mission of Girls Inc. is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold. For over thirty years, Girls Inc. has been serving girls, ages 6-18, in Cobb County with informal education, life skills programming, and recreational opportunities through after-school and summer camp programs, as well as through outreach programs taken to schools, churches, youth agencies and recreational facilities.
