What A Character

Based on the Georgia Board of Education Character Words Key words such as RESPONSIBILITY, RESPECT, CARING and PERSEVERANCE are included and others like FRIENDSHIP and ACCEPTANCE have short plays built around the words as themes. Original short plays, theatre games, verse and quotes from historic and literary leaders like George Washington and Ben Franklin are woven together to make up the show. Short Plays Include: The Fisherman and His Wife, The Beauty Bird and the Uglipede and Shadow • Curriculum based program • Students are able to use, understand and play with character words in new ways. • Includes theatrical, musical, historical, literary and health concept excerpts and experiences.

  • Program Time: Assemblies are 45 min. 30-40 min. related acting workshops in the classroom also available following an assembly program.
  • Target Age: Grades 3-5
  • Special Requirements: A clean, open space for the performance which has recently been damp mopped. The space should be cleared of tables and chairs so that children may be seated on the floor, approximately four feet from the front edge of the stage with an aisle of three feet allowed down the middle and around the perimeter of the audience. •A stage area at least 24’W x 20’D, one standard 120 volt outlet and one 6’ ladder.
