PUBLIC NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS
FOR COBB COUNTY NON-PROFIT GRANT FY11-12

All non-profit organizations with 501c3 designation and serving Cobb County residents are invited to attend a meeting on March 9, 2010 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm OR March 16, 2010 from 9:00 am to 10:00am for a presentation on the availability of funds from Cobb County Non-Profit Grant for fiscal year 2011/ 2012. An overview of the funding process including criteria for receiving a grant and instructions on completing the application will be given at that time. Attendance at this meeting is optional. Applications will be available in electronic format on the Cobb Community Collaborative website after the scheduled RFP sessions.

The meetings will be held at The Mansour Center, 995 Roswell St., Marietta, GA 30060. Members of the Cobb Community Collaborative and Cobb County Finance Dept. will be present to answer questions regarding the application and review process.

The Cobb Community Collaborative is pleased to announce that they have been awarded a $50,000 grant, funded over a one year period, from the federal Compassionate Capital Fund Initiative (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The nation-wide awards, to 420 faith-based and community organizations, are designed to help grass-roots faith-based and community organizations enhance their ability to provide a wide range of social services for those in need. Those services include aid for homeless persons, at-risk youth and rural communities and initiatives to empower youth and promote healthy marriage.

Building on our collaborative framework, the Cobb Community Collaborative mission brings together students, parents, educators, mental health agencies, politicians, law enforcement, and faith organizations to talk about social services issues in the community. This award is designed to enhance the capacity building efforts of the parent organization as well as its members.

Capacity Building Assistant Needed

An experienced revenue development assistant is needed to support programs and services by researching revenue sources and writing proposal templates. Job description is attached outlining responsibilities. Priority will be given to candidates who have experience with logic models, outcome-based programming and Excel-based program budgeting knowledge. Position allows $20.00 per hour for 20 hours per week.

First Steps Coordinator
Prevent Child Abuse Georgia (PCA Georgia)

The First Steps Coordinator at PCA Georgia is responsible for all aspects of program management and service delivery of the First Steps program, a hospital-based program which serves parents of newborns. This position is part of PCA Georgia’s state office staff in Atlanta.

First Steps is a research-based parent support program, with the following goals:

To enrich family life and help to promote the healthy growth and development of children
To provide families with current information, community resources and topics of interest to all parents of newborns
To reduce the likelihood of child abuse and neglect during the early years by supporting parents of newborns through their first steps of parenting

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Direct service to parents of newborns born at a metro Atlanta hospital
Supervision and training of First Steps volunteers
Development and maintenance of program materials for parents
Liaison between First Steps program and the birthing hospital, community collaborators and stakeholders
Program accountability including quality assurance, data collection and evaluation, compliance with hospital and First Steps program requirements
Assist with strategic planning for enhancement and growth of First Steps program services in metro Atlanta

Required Education and Skills:

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree (with commensurate experience) in public health, social work, education, or related field
Supervisory experience
Knowledge of early childhood health and development
Strong written and verbal communication skills
