Youth Training: Mental Health 101 – Outreach Wellness Learning Webinar
May 27 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Brought to us by Mental Health America of Georgia, this OWL provides an introduction to mental health and is targeted to youth and young adults ages 14-24.
Often mental health and mental illness are misunderstood by individuals due to lack of knowledge, stigma associated with mental illness, and avoidance of conversations regarding mental health and wellness. It is important to understand that everyone has mental health, but not everyone is diagnosed with a mental illness. Mental health can be seen in everyday situations such as stressors that come with school, sadness felt when moving away from friends, and even the distress felt when experiencing a break up.
Through this training participants will:
1. Explain mental health and varying mental health states
2. Explore interconnection between situations, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
3. Demonstrate effective coping strategies and how to manage self care during periods of stress.
