Get GA Reading Webinar – Re-Engaging Georgia’s Students and Teachers After a Crisis: The Neurochemistry of Hope

July 16, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm

With the uncertainty of COVID-19 and the subsequent remote and “socially distanced” instruction, securing a student’s engagement is more important than ever. Teachers may also need some re-engagement. This session will provide a discussion of the neurochemistry that we all need to spark the drive for new learning. An overview of the Social Emotional Engagement – Knowledge and Skills (SEE-KS) will be shared. SEE-KS is a professional learning approach that includes freely accessible tools for measuring student engagement, fostering engagement in classroom lessons, and facilitating teacher to teacher mentorship. As student engagement is a critical gauge of a student’s well-being, understanding where each student is with respect to their engagement is essential for not only a well-being check, but as a tool for measuring the impact of instruction whether it be remote or in-person. SEE-KS engagement measurement enables teams to identify students who are struggling to access the curriculum both in an externalized manner, but also as “silent sufferers.” The tools also empower us to “fuel” one another to deliver instruction that engages our learners.
