A Better Understanding of Adolescent Health with GCAPP

March 31, 2021 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

The Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Power & Potential (GCAPP) created an innovative Parent Toolkit in 2020 to help parents and caregivers navigate the child- development journey. The Toolkit provides practical information to help parents and caregivers navigate topics and situations that all families face, including ones that are hard to talk about. Open, honest parent-child communication is critical in helping children prepare for social challenges they are likely to encounter. We hear from parents frequently that they feel unprepared to discuss certain topics with their children. GCAPP is here to help!

Join Dion Walker-Smith, Director of Community Based Initiatives for GCAPP, on March 31 at 12pm for an introduction to the Toolkit and how you can use it to foster open and caring conversations with your child and the parents/caregivers that you support. There will be opportunities to share your challenges and “pain points” when it comes to the tweens, teens and young adults in your life. We’ll end with a fun and interactive game (with a little incentive for paying attention and staying to the end!)  to reinforce what we have heard and the resources that we ‘ve been connected to. Please feel free to bring your lunch, invite a colleague or fellow parent and join us!
