Fourth Quarter General Membership Meeting & Human Services Awards Luncheon
December 7 @ 11:30 am - 1:15 pm
We are grateful to Cobb Community Foundation for their sponsorship of this year’s event!
Each year, the Cobb Collaborative honors members of our community who have exhibited outstanding service to those in need in Cobb County. Jack Vaughan, Jr. was a state representative and member of the Cobb Collaborative who showed unselfish dedication to public service and strongly advocated for those less fortunate in our community. In memory of Jack’s service, the Collaborative honors a volunteer and a professional who have gone above and beyond to serve those in need.
We know that there are many individuals who have gone “above and beyond” this year (or who have continued to go above and beyond!) to respond to the unprecedented public health crisis and concurrent economic and educational crises. Please do your best to select one person from your organization who has demonstrated exceptional service and leadership. Agencies are welcome to submit in both the volunteer and professional categories.
Nomination forms are available for download below. The deadline for submitting nominations and pictures is Friday, October 28, 2022 at 5:00 PM.
Howard Koepka’s calling was to connect and mobilize people and organizations to serve. He did everything from organizing community service days in greater Atlanta to building a school, church and orphanage in Haiti to leading disaster relief efforts in Puerto Rico.
In December of 2020, Howard was presented with Cobb Community Foundation’s James L. Rhoden, Jr. Award for Visionary Philanthropy. Characteristically, he said “I will accept this, but I’m going to accept it on behalf of hundreds of people who have worked tirelessly this entire year to make it happen.” It was never about him or even his organization. It was about the collective “we.”
We lost Howard on October 11, 2021. In his honor, Cobb Community Foundation has created the Howard Koepka Spirit of Collaboration Award that will recognize a nonprofit serving Cobb that has demonstrated the collaborative spirit Howard embodied.
