PCA Cobb Strategy Team Meeting

The PCA Cobb Strategy Team brings together leaders, stakeholders, and nonprofit organizations serving children and families in Cobb County. These bi-monthly meetings are an opportunity to collaborate on strategies that strengthen families, prevent child abuse and neglect, and create a collective impact on key community issues.

During our October meeting, we will hear from Valina Scotland.  Valina Scotland is a License Professional Counselor with 30yrs of experience in the mental health/behavioral health field. She is currently the Public Programs Coordinator at Cobb County Juvenile Court providing the court with support in programmatic public facing endeavors.  Her career spans from working with victims of trauma including survivors of tragedies, the US Pentagon EAP after 911, victims of domestic violence along with working with families and children involved in the school and the juvenile justice systems.  At Cobb County Juvenile Court, she has been instrumental in the research and selection of the risk needs responsivity assessment tool currently used with youth and families at Cobb County Juvenile court.  The assessment is used to help determine a child’s probability of reoffending and appropriately provide children & families support through case management.

Meetings will alternate between in-person and virtual formats, offering flexibility while fostering meaningful connections and discussions. Together, we’ll align with Georgia Essentials for Childhood as a guiding framework to drive awareness, share best practices, and implement effective programs that support families in our community.
