PCA Cobb Strategy Team Meeting

April 1 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Join PCA Cobb on April 1st as we officially launch Child Abuse Prevention Month. This strategic convening is designed for our partners and stakeholders to align our efforts, share our vision, and deepen our impact for the families of Cobb County.

We are honored to welcome Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia to this meeting to share how their statewide leadership fuels our local mission. Together, we are moving beyond traditional models of risk to build a community-wide “ecosystem of support.”

Turning “Possibilities” into Action

This year’s theme, “Pinwheels of Possibilities,” serves as our North Star. During this session, we will transition from theory to practice by diving into the HOPE framework’s “Engagement” building block.

Our Collaborative Focus:

  • Belonging over Risk: Shifting the narrative from individual vulnerabilities to the community’s power to create a sense of belonging.
  • Collective Responsibility: Facilitated breakout groups will explore how to put “Engagement” into action across Cobb County.
  • Strategic Alignment: Connecting our local initiatives with the statewide leadership of PCA Georgia.

Engagement isn’t just a buzzword—it’s about public participation and the belief that we are all responsible for the well-being of our children. Let’s start the month by building the connections that make those “possibilities” real.

Beth Florence is the Coordinator for Georgia Essentials for Childhood and Georgia’s Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Plan (CANPP), working with Positive Childhood Alliance Georgia (PCA GA) at Georgia State University’s Mark Chaffin Center for Healthy Development in the School of Public Health. Through this multidisciplinary initiative, she supports collaboration and strengthens systems to help all Georgians promote healthy, nurturing, and stable environments where families can thrive.

With a bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a master’s in social work from the University of Texas, Beth has extensive experience in community-based services, direct support for children and families, and program development. Before joining PCA GA, she spent over a decade raising her family while serving in leadership and advocacy roles, including as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) in Cobb County. Passionate about strengthening communities, she brings a blend of hands-on experience and program coordination expertise to her role.

As the lead council in Cobb County for Positive Childhood Alliance (PCA) Georgia, Cobb Collaborative hosts quarterly PCA Cobb Strategy Team Meetings. These meetings bring together local leaders, agencies, stakeholders, and nonprofit organizations who serve children and families in Cobb County and across the state to collaborate on strategies that strengthen families while preventing child abuse and neglect.

Together, we use a collective impact framework to strategize on the implementation of Georgia’s Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Plan (CANPP). From the direct service providers who share resources with families, to the local policymakers who advocate for prevention, PCA Cobb Strategy Teams are a place for us to drive awareness, share best practices, uplift local services and protective factors, and gain insight on how to implement effective programs that support families in our community.

We are grateful to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for their generous support and sponsorship of our PCA Cobb strategy team meetings.
