Tomorrow is GivingTuesday, an annual event that promotes giving, generosity, and collaboration to make a change in the world. In 2018 alone over $400 million dollars were donated to nonprofits. If your nonprofit is aware of GivingTuesday you have more than likely been working on your campaign, sending out emails, and posting social media content for months! Here is the final checklist before you walk into tomorrow.

  • Consider Requesting Donations on Facebook and Paypal

Platforms such as Facebook and Paypal have issued statements about matching donations on GivingTuesday.

Facebook’s match for GivingTuesday 2019 begins at 8:00 AM Eastern Time (5:00 AM Pacific Time) on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Donations are matched dollar for dollar on a first-come, first-served basis until $7,000,000 USD in eligible donations are made on Facebook“.

On November 27, 2018, we’ll celebrate #GivingTuesday by matching donations made through PayPal’s holiday giving campaign dollar-for-dollar, up to $500,000. We’ll continue to celebrate the holiday giving season by adding 1% to any donation you make through the campaign once we reach $500,000, and then from November 28 to December 3″.

  • Small Donations Are Not Bad

It may be a surprise to some, but $5 donations add up quickly! Donations that are smaller are attractive to younger donors and students that might not have as much to give.

  • Make Monthly Giving Your Default Option

It is important that potential donors understand generosity is not just something that happens on GivingTuesday, but that it is a lifestyle. One of the most practical ways to communicate this is by setting up monthly, quarterly, or annual donations as your default option. By asking donors to partner with your nonprofit through ongoing donations, you help them understand that sustainable giving leads to sustainable solutions which leads to sustainable impact!
